Combustion Modeling Laboratory

Introduction

Combustion modeling laboratory aims to develop combustion models and high fidelity simulation methods for reacting flows. The research focuses are on developing robust, highly parallel CFD codes which can handle complex geometries with detailed chemical/fluid-dynamic processes. These codes can be used to simulate combustion processes inside real engines such as gas turbines or rocket engines to help design clean, stable, and efficient combustion systems. In addition, the research lab also is interested in developing models for various combustion processes such as combustion instability, turbulent flame speeds, mixing of fuel and oxidizer, droplet breakout.

Our lab has extensive experience on high performance computing running turbulent combustion simulation on more than 10,000 CPU cores on super computers including TITAN, ARCHER, COMET, BRIDGES, etc.
